Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Henry Kwadwo Boakye has stated his intention to contest the seat again in the party’s internal primaries yet to be held.
According to him, he is poised for a second term to complete the many policies and projects already started and implement new ones, despite speculations of Baba Jamal is expected to join the race.
Baba Jamal was the MP for the area until he was defeated by New Patriotic Party’s Ama Sey in the 2016 historic parliamentary elections.
But in an interview with the media over the weekend at Akwatia, Hon. Henry Kwadwo Boakye indicated that he has the dream of uplifting the living standards of his constituents, hence the need to go for a second term.
The lawmaker from the NDC, Henry Kwadwo Boakye secured 19,899, votes representing 51.50% with the NPP candidate Ernest Kumi also securing 18,742 votes which are 48.50%.
According to him, he is not disturbed if Baba Jamal or any other member of the party pops up in the round up to the primaries as his hard work will guarantee his success.
The Akwatia seat is one of the hot spot constituencies in the Eastern region as both the NDC and NPP see the constituency as a swing one.
