The Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) chaired by the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong says the viral video with attached commentary that some persons were murdered to perform rituals for the burial of Daasebre Prof. Emeritus Oti Boateng is untrue and must be treated with contempt.
This was contained in a statement issued Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Daasebre Oti Boateng died at the age of 83. He reigned from 1992 until August 2021, when he passed while Nana Yaa Daani,67, also ruled from 2000 to 2022.
His burial rite was performed from May 13 to May 16, 2022.
The burial rite was attended by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Kumawumanhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, and host of other chiefs and Queenmothers.
On the political side, present were President Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia joined thousands of mourners to pay their last respects to Daasebre Oti Boateng.
Also present were former President John Agyekum Kufuor, past and present Ministers of State and government officials including Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng. A former Chief of staff under the erstwhile NDC government, Julius Debrah also led a delegation to represent former President John Dramani Mahama, Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, MPs for New Juaben North and South Nana Adjei Boateng and Michael Okyere Baafi respectively.
On Sunday morning, the local council of churches took over the funeral with a burial service.
