The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Kwame Asuah-Takyi was at AMPAIN in the Western Region to attend the World Refugee Day commemoration under the theme; “The Right to Seek Safety”.
The Hon Interior Minister, Ambrose Derry was the Guest of Honor for the all-important program.
In attendance was the Western Regional Minister, Hon Boateng Otchere Darko, the Chief Director of Interior, Madam Adelaide Annor-Kumi, the Chairman of the Ghana Refugee Board, Mr Ken Attafuah, the resident representative of the UNHCR Madam Esther Irasko, the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugee Board, among others.
Mr Kwame Asuah-Takyi indicated the need for the commemoration as it deepens people’s knowledge of refugees and also educates them on the need to remain resolute in our democratic governance.
Other dignitaries at the event commented on the need to support refugees in order not to shrink their rights.
