The former Madina Constituency Member of Parliament Alhaji Abubakar Sadiqque Boniface says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) honors Northerners more than the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC contrary to the festering perception that the NPP is only Akan-dominated party.
He said historical antecedents since the formation of the Danquah -Busia-Dombo founded NPP; people from the northern part of the country have always played a key role in NPP and its governments.
“Then northern- southern factor began, from then, the NPP came after 30 years, then Adu Boahene took lawyer Issifu Roland he became his running mate, after that remember you Muslims you don’t have any better party either than the NPP because am telling you the fact NDC never honors Northerners or Muslims, is a fact so sooner or later we the Muslims will come to lead the party.
You alone cannot battle for victory, you are fortunate to be elected to lead in your regions and constituencies, those who have lost to you to come to power you need them, they have good ideas despite that they lost, so draw them closer to you and they will give these ideas to you because you have recognized them, but when you leave them to go they also have followers and it will go against the party” Borniface Abubakar Sadiqque said
According to him, nobody should be deceived that NPP doesn’t honor Northerners.
He called for calm to prevailing remain whether the NPP elects a Northerner as a flag bearer soon or later.
“What this party needs today is to unite to get us to move forward, the party has a tradition and the tradition is that you at times we fight among ourselves but in the end, we need to unite and fight the battle outside. You win elections internally, elections are not won on the day of the election, and battles are won in the engine room, not on the battlefield”.
Borniface Sadiqque Abubakar said this when he represented John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng during a National Constituency Officers Welfare workshop in Koforidua, Eastern regional capital under the theme “Uniting Our Front to Break the Eight”.
He urged the constituency executives of the party to bring everybody on board in the party’s quest to “break the 8” to retain power in 2024.
“So it is very important to recognize everybody in the party we need thieves, we need wee smokers, we need gossipers, we need people who can fight, and everybody has a role in the part so we must recognize everybody.
We are dynamic but the party is static, tomorrow it might not be you but you have to leave a legacy for the next fellow to emulate and do better than you. If you give birth to a child and the child grows to equal what you did, you are still leaving with yesterday, but if you give birth to a child and the child grows to be better than you then you thank God even if you die today you have left a better legacy. So it is not about your strength, it is about your knowledge and how you will work with others in your constituencies, so uniting our front is me and you”
