Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentemprem 2nd, Nifahene of Techiman Traditional Council in the Bono East region has called on Government, Nananom and other stakeholders to rise up to the occasion of protecting our remaining forest reserves in order to avert the negative effects of climate change before human habitats become endangered in a very near future.
Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentemprem has, therefore, made a passionate appeal to various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, Organizations and all Individuals in our communities to massively engage in the planting of more trees and nurture them in order to sustain our environment.
He made this appeal during the elections and inauguration of Techiman North and South Landscape Management Board who will be working together with the Bono East Regional Forestry Services and other stakeholders under a project dubbed “Landscape and Environmental Agility across the Nation” (LEAN).
He indicated the Board aims at fighting the fast sinking rain forests in the area.
For his part, Mr Kwame Frimpong Sekyere, Senior Project Officer at Tropenbos Ghana, a non-governmental organisation implementing the “LEAN” project together with Eco-Care Ghana threw more light on the program, indicating it would go a long way to protect and preserve the country’s forests and vegetation.
Mr Gyau Peprah, the newly elected Chairman of the 7-member Board and the Organiser, Hon. Akwasi Akuorko on behalf of their colleagues expressed gratitude and pledged to work harder to protect our forests.
