Nana Obiri Boahen, the outgoing Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he disagrees with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-refusal Addo’s to replace his Ministers in response to a plea from the Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA).
He believes that the President’s stance will make it impossible for the NPP to ‘Break the 8’.
But Nana Obiri Boahene in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’ said the President’s response was “unfortunate”.
The Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), a grass-roots wing of the ruling NPP, has urged President Akufo-Addo to change his appointees immediately in order to re-energize the economy.
According to the group, some significant government officials remain dormant in their duties, which is hurting economic progress.
However, during a radio interview on North Star radio in Tamale as part of his tour of the Northern Region, President Nana Akufo-Addo stated that those demanding a change of his Ministers may be people looking for work.
“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilize the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs,” the President said.
“Not responding to them would have been right. Politically, we cannot brush aside the role of the foot soldiers. They are very instrumental in the party’s victory. Let’s listen to them. We want power,” he added.
