Assembly members in the West Akyem Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region have Elected a Former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akyem Constituency, James Appietu-Ankrah as the new Presiding Member.
Honourable James Appietu-Ankrah polled 38 YES Votes and two NO votes in the election conducted by the Electoral Commission which was witnessed by the member of Parliament for the Constituency, Honourable Charles Acheampong and MCE, Honourable Seth Oduro Boadu and other Heads of Department.
The new Presiding Member is expected to serve for about eleven months before the Assembly is dissolved for the District level Election in October 2023.
Honourable James Appietu-Ankrah, addressing the Assembly members pledged to explore his experience, skills and knowledge to move the local Administration forward and called for support from members.
Mr Ankrah was first elected into parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party during the December 2004 Ghanaian general elections for the Lower West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana after he won the Party’s Primary Election.
He polled 22,239 votes out of the 38,198 valid votes cast representing 58.20%.
