Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has stated that she does not support the call for the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta impeachment by some members of Parliament.
According to her, the NPP MPs have the mandate to make better decisions to help Ghana to overcome economic hardship and re-establish hope in the financial sector of the country.
“I can’t side with the ruling party parliamentarians whether to sack or to retain the finance minister over mismanagement of the economy,’’ Madam Akua Donkor told Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt FM.
Madam Akua Donkor promised to restore hope to Ghana’s economy as she urged Ghanaians to elect her in power in 2024, adding that the 2024 general elections is a great privilege for the citizens to vote massively against the NPP and NDC.
About 87 aggrieved party MPs coalition ordered President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta over the mishandling of the country’s economy.
Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi, Asante-Akim North MP who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers said, they would not take part in any government business and would boycott the 2023 budget hearings until their demands are met.
