The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye has made a passionate appeal to chiefs and opinion leaders to help in the fight against illegal mining.
He said that chiefs are the land’s custodians and no person can do mining without seeking permission from them. He stressed the devastating effects and destructions illegal mining known as galamsey is causing to our environment, especially water bodies and their inhabitants.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye added The Church of Pentecost is doing its best to support cocoa farmers who are suffering due to the galamsey menace by providing them seedlings.
He appealed when he paid a courtesy to the Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Council, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I as part of his four days working visits in the Goaso District of the Ahafo Region.
Nana Akwasi Bosomprah the President of Goaso Traditional Council on his part stressed on how important they believe in the Supremacy of God. He urged the church to help build a chapel on two plots of land he had provided where chiefs can also go and worship.
