Drivers in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua have responded positively to the reduction of transport fares as as communicated by the leadership of transport unions.
Transport Unions led by GPRTU communicated of transport fares reduction that took effect on December 19, 2022 as prices of fuel continue to decline.
Speaking to Bryt fm reporter, Francis Arkosah in an interview, some drivers acknowledged the decision of their leaders and pledged to follow suit as far as the reduction in fares is concerned.
However, some complained that prices of spare parts, engine oil and other documentations are yet see reduction and that contribute to increase in transport fares.
Others were also not happy about attitude of traders as they complain that prices of products have seen no change despite calls for reductions as the cedi continue to gain power against the dollar and other major trading currencies.
“Ghanaians especially traders should also reduce prices of the goods because transport fares have been slashed. I bought a sachet of water for Ghc0.50 pesewas this morning despite calls for reduction” a driver told the reporter.
