For the first time in the history of Asamankese in the Eastern Region, Muslim Community leaders in the West Akyem Municipality joined the Saint Mary Catholic Church to celebrate Christmas Day Mass with them.
The Municipal Chief Imam, Alhaji Alhassan Hussein, and the Asamankese Zongo Chief, Masawudu Fuseini, Deputy Chief Imam, together with Leader of Muslim Community, Mohammed Bala Shaibu, and other key leaders surprised the Parishioners during the introductory rites to begin the Christmas day Mass.
Addressing the Church, Leader of the Muslim Community Mohammed Bala Shaibu lauded Christians, especially the Catholic Church for their religious tolerance and called for its continuation.
According to him, there is no differences between Christians and Muslims and called on them to continue strengthen the bilateral relation and promote peace and unity always.
Alhaji Mohammed Bala Shaibu called on the Catholic Church leaders to control their kids and train them to be God fearing and urged the Youth to dress decently and abide by rules and doctrine in Christianity.
The Municipal Chief Imam,Alhaji Alhassan Hussein commended the Catholic Church for their Contributions to the nation and said himself attended Catholic school at Asamankese and said the cordial relation between Catholic Church and Islam started long ago.
He expressed appreciation to the Saint Mary Catholic Church Priest for inviting them for the first time in history to join them for Christmas Day Mass and said recently during their Eid al-Fitr feast, the priest paid a courtesy call on them together with some members of the church.
The Parish Priest, Reverend Father James Buah-Nkwantabisa said 2022 Christmas Day Mass will be memorable and thanked the Muslim leaders for honouring his Invitation.
