The Eastern Regional bureau of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has commenced safety education to help curb fire outbreak in the country.
The GNFS has to that effect registered thirty-nine (39) new and young fire volunteers to help fight frequent occurrence of fire outbreaks in the country as part of strategic effort to spread fire safety education during visitation to Tontro, a resident of Tafo in the Abuakwa north municipality.
The Eastern Regional Fire Commander of the GNFS, ACFO I Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye disclosed that the GNFS is well-determined to fight and reduce fire outbreak in the region and the country at large.
ACFO I Jennifer Quaye affirmed that they are spreading fire safety education to farming communities, institutions, market places and others to reduce the higher number of fire eruptions in the country.
In an interview with Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt fm, ACFO I Jennifer Quaye stressed the GNFS is ready to train many fire volunteers in the region to join the fight against fire outbreaks.
She, therefore, cautioned the general public to be cautious and join the fight to assist in reducing the higher number of fire outbreaks in the country.
ACFO I Jennifer Quaye revealed that it has recorded seven hundred and seventy-nine (779) cases in 2022 with barely two days to end the year.
The recorded cases include 225 domestic, 70 vehicular, 71 commercials, 21 institutional, 9 industrial, 51 electrical, 159 bush fires, 6 flood, 3 be attack, 131 accidents, 14 false alarm and 19 emergency cases.
Reacting to 2022 statistics, ACFO I Jennifer Quaye expressed that GNFS will work hard in 2023 to reduce the numbers by spreading the safety fire education in the region.
ACFO I Jennifer Quaye disclosed that they embark on a lot of education in this year to help curb fire outbreaks in the region and the country as a whole.
