Private sector workers in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua are appealing to their employers to consider increasing their base pay for the year, 2023.
According to some workers, they are yet to see increment of salaries after working for so many years with the private sector.
Their agitations come in the wake of public sector workers having their base pay increased by 30%.
The Government and Organized Labour have agreed to a 30-percent base pay increment on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) across board for this year at a base point of 1.7 percent.
This was announced by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah today Thursday January 12.
The increment took effect January 1, 2023.
“We are appealing to our employers to also imitate the government and adjust our salaries a bit higher” some workers told the reporter.
