The Chairman of Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Mr James Klutse Avedzi has explained why he ordered for the arrest of guarantors of two former Korle-bu staff who fails to fulfill their bonds terms with the institution (government).
He explained that, some sections of public workers who apply for such facility deliberately fail to honour the agreement signed before having the sponsorship for their education, for which the state loses money used in such programs at the end.
Mr Klutse added that, considering such behavior of some persons who access government sponsorship, it is better that, whoever need such support from the state should deal with their banks to serve as guarantors so that, if those people fail to fulfill the bond at the end the studies, government can easily fall on the banks which guaranteed for those persons and take the money back.
The chairman made this known in an interview soon after the adjournment of today Wednesday 18 January, 2023 public Accounts Committee’s sittings.
