Forty-five (45) persons with disability have received support from the New Juaben municipality of the Eastern region as enshrined in the Common fund status quo.
The items and financial support is to help cushion members in their day to day activities by investing in what ever business they do or intend to venture into.
Some beneficiaries received deep freezers with ice chest, fufu pounding machines whiles others also received cash amount of Ghc1,500.00 each to start up a business.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Comfort Asante challenged beneficiaries to make very good use of the items given and also invest the money into good use in order to improve their livelihood.
She advised them to desist from using the items and money for anything different from the intended purpose as supervisors would be coming round to access the state of their businesses.
Madam Comfort Asante however pledged of her outfit continous support to persons with disability at all times to help eradicate the attitude of street begging that most members engage in.
The Chairman of the PWDs, Samuel Sarpong Boateng on his part also challenged members not to allow their family members nor concubines deceive them not to misuse the items and monies but rather ensure that it is well invested for benefits in the future.
He again urged members to be proactive and take advantage of the opportunity to start up their own business so as to end depending on others to survive.
Meanwhile, some beneficiaries were grateful to the government, the assembly and the MCE for the doantion and also assured that the items and monies would be put into good use.
The items and monies distributed costs Ghc140,000.00.
