Kwamena Duncan, a former minister for the Central Region, has endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s flagbearer.
Although the NPP has not set a date for its presidential and parliamentary primaries, it is anticipated that they will occur this year as the party prepares for the general elections of 2024.
For the job of flagbearer, a number of contenders, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, and former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Afriyie Akoto, are competing.
Kwamena Duncan feels that electing Dr. Bawumia, who he is confident would lead the party to victory in 2024, is the best course of action for the party.
Mr. Kwamena Duncan warned the party delegates against voting for any other candidate to lead the NPP in order to avoid making a mistake.
“He is the President Ghana must have . . . It is the wisest thing this party must do [wisest thing] that the image, the name and the future of this party will be best decided by making the Vice President bear our flag and lead us into victory in December 2024. It is the wisest thing!”, he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
