There has been heavy security presence at Adoagyiri chiefs palace since morning of Thursday March 2, 2023 over chieftaincy dispute.
Information gathered indicate that, the Akyem Abuakwa traditional council has planned to enstool a parallel Chief in Adoagyiri to overthrow the incumbent chief to enable it annex Adoagyiri territory which Akyem Kotoku traditional council claims ownership.
This comes after a letter was leaked on social media about the intended installation of Odehye Ntiamoah Karikari by Akyem Abuakwa traditional council despite the fact that Adoagyiri has a legitimate substantive chief Okoanadwo Afutu Dompre II enstooled 17 years ago.
The Akyem Abuakwa traditional council is alleged to be having the backing of the presidency, however, Mawerehene of Adoagyiri, Etuosrebour Safo Kankam say they will resist any attempt by Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council to annex any piece of land in Adoagyiri and Akyem Kotoku traditional area at large ,and as well resist attempt to install a rival chief in Adoagyiri.
Adoagyirihene is head of the Ankobea division of the Kotoku kingdom and has since 1860 paid homage to the Kotokumanhene.
This long standing tradition will however come to am end if Akyem Abuakwa traditional council succeeds in installing the rival chief who will pay homage to Okyenhene.
