The National Democratic Congress (NDC), according to Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom representative Sylvester Tetteh, would continue to be in opposition.
He added that although former President John Mahama is running for flagbearer, his campaign themes are good, they are coming from the wrong source since Ghanaians are aware of his track record of breaking promises.
“NDC will be in opposition. If you go for elections, and you have many people following you it does not automatically mean you’ll win.
“The same crowd was following John Mahama, even in the last elections. Even in 2016 when they lost the same crowd was following him,” he said.
If elected in the general election of 2024, the former president has pledged to abolish the payment of ex-gratia to holders of Article 71 offices.
In addition, Mr. Mahama pledged that his cabinet would consist of no more than 60 members if he were elected president.
However, Mr. Tetteh stated on Adom TV’s Badwam Show that Mr. Mahama’s popularity does not guarantee his win.
“You may be popular, and many people will follow you but it may not translate into votes. The decision point will come, so that’s not the yardstick. I said somewhere that the message is good but with the wrong messenger.
“The messenger’s track record does not make us believe whatever he says,” he added.
