The Deputy works and Housing Minister, Hon. Abdulai Abanga attended the maiden conference of the African Youth in Real Estate (AYIRE) at the UG Business School with a call on the youth to take full advantage of the diverse value chain opportunities in the Real Estate sector, engage in gainful employment and contribute to the country’s national development.
The Deputy Minister, however, expressed worry of how housing units supplied by real estate developers are outpriced and fail to meet the housing needs of the average Ghanaian.
The sector Deputy Minister, therefore, urged private developers to explore the opportunities in government’s new Affordable Housing Programme, where land banks and their requisite on-site infrastructure, designated as Affordable Housing Enclaves are made available for housing development.
Through this , government seeks to remove the challenge of land acquisition and on-site infrastructure development, thereby attracting private developers, and drastically reducing the cost of housing units when constructed.
