The Director of Administration at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Nana Osei Yeboah Asuamah has expressed extreme worry about the high rate of accidents and numbers of deaths recorded weekly on the Kumasi-Techiman-Tamale road which needs swift attention and a lasting solution.
According to the National Road Safety Authority in the Bono East Region, a total of 91 deaths were recorded in 2022 but by mid-March 2023 about 40 people had died including the fatal accident that occurred on the Kintampo-Tamale road which claimed 23 lives at the spot on 6th March, a situation which is alarming and shouldn’t be allowed to continue.
Speaking in an interview with Asta Fm’s Nana Kwadwo Adu, Nana Osei Yeboah Asuamah who happens to be the Twafo Hene of Buoryem in the Techiman Traditional Area advised Drivers to be extra cautious on our roads saying “accident changes everything in one’s life”.
Nana Osei Yeboah Asuamah continued that as a Health Worker, it was very sad to note the high cost of treating injuries saying some accident victims spend between Ghc200,000 to Ghc600,000 on treatment therefore it is wise to arive late & safe than reach early but injured or dead”.
He gave the advice when he chaired the 2023 Annual Choirs Conference of the Tuobodom District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Techiman North District.
In view of this, Mrs. Esther Ankomah the District Music Director and Catechist Frank Owusu Bissiw of Tuobodom Emmanuel Assembly unanimously advised people with the talentbof singing to use it to glorify God rather than Satan.
