Oyaadeeyie Basape Kwadjo Armah II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to select a permanent Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who can work with the Member of Parliament for the area Lawyer Alfred Obeng Boateng to encourage development in the Constituency.
He proposed that more intimate collaboration between the two parties would not just contribute to the desired growth, but also serenity and balance in the constituencies.
Addressing an interview with the media, Oyeadeeyie Basape Kwadjo Armah II declared that unity among key stakeholders and leadership from the various interest groups was critical to community building and development.
The Western North Regional Minister Hon. Richard Ebbah Obeng appointed the former Bia West District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon.John Koah to “act as a caretaker liaison officer between the Assembly and the Regional Minister on all matters that require the attention of the regional minister.”
Regional Ministers over the years act as chief executives of any assembly anytime the substantive political appointee is removed or deceased.
Hon. Alfred Amoah, the former MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, died in a car accident on Tuesday, July 12 while he was returning from Accra from an official meeting.
In his stead, the regional minister was supposed to have to assume his position until a new chief executive was nominated by the President.
However, the Regional Minister, Mr. Richard Ebbah Obeng has delegated his powers because of what he states as “busy schedules” in a letter dated Friday, July 29, 2022, and copied the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Presiding Member and appointed his Special Aide Hon.John Koah as the Acting MCE.
According to the Paramount Chief, because there is no substantive MCE development is said to have ignited uproar within the corridors of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, especially Sefwi Bekwai.
He therefore appealed to the government to provide them basic social amenities.
He said that the provision of the amenities would help to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
“You can see that we are in modern society and yet we don’t have basic social amenities such as potable water, toilet facility, Morden market center and urgent health facilities for quality health care. He stressed that these amenities will improve the living standards of our people.
He appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to nominee MCE for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality now to help the office of the Chief Executive to be effective.
