The Western Regional Fire Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (ACFOI), Frederick Ohemeng with his team of Regional Taskforce, Fire Police, MMDFO’S, and Staff stormed the Takoradi Makeshift market.
The unannounced visit was to assess the level of adherence by traders in the market to the directives of the Command to prevent fires in the market.
ACFO I Ohemeng and his team also inspected the fire extinguishers of commercial food vendors in the market and arrested some recalcitrant traders who use LP Gas for cooking.
The team later visited the Takoradi market Circle construction site to inspect the progress of work and the level of adherence to GNFS recommendations.
The Fire Service launched no cooking in the market as a result of the fire outbreak in the market.
