Former President John Dramani Mahama’s choice to provide each delegate with GHS40 for transportation during the recently concluded presidential and legislative primaries has been backed by Ningo Prampram lawmaker Samuel Nartey George.
The previous President made the decision to financially sponsor each delegate so they could travel from their homes to participate in the primaries.
“The Campaign believes supporting the delegates to travel to the centers will ensure a high voter turnout and every voter will be empowered to vote and return home without financial impediment in these difficult economic times,” a statement signed by the Spokesperson of Mr Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, said.
Sam George, the National Democratic Congress’s reelected parliamentary candidate in Ningo Prampram, was asked about his opinion of the eventual presidential primary winner’s action while speaking on the Big Issue on TV3 on Tuesday, May 16. Sam George responded, “if you are inviting people from all…that is transportation.”
Sam George added that Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, a candidate for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, who was spotted throwing money at a crowd during the NDC presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday, May 13, at Ejura Sekyedumase, in the Ashanti Region, must be invited by security.
