The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has supplied hand washing facilities with Soaps to hawkers, Market women and Drivers in the constituency.
Veronica buckets have been strategically positioned in Akosombo Market, Adomi bridge (both ends) Atimpoku Market, Sapor market, Frankadua, Asikuma lorry station and all other economically active centers in the constituency to facilitate hand washing in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.
The MP took the opportunity to educate the constituents on coronavirus pandemic and urged them to observe the preventive regimes outlined by the World Health Organization and government to control the spread of the disease.
He urged the traders particularly hawkers selling along the road at Atimpoku area to frequently wash their hands.
Atimpoku, the District Capital of Asuogyaman is known for the sale of “abolo”, a local steamed food made from corn dough, and other seafood.
Both commercial and private vehicles stop to buy from the hawkers anytime they reach the Atimpoku.
With the outbreak of Covid -19, the safety of buying such foods from hawkers has been questioned but the Lawmaker believes this hand washing facility provided would ensure good hygiene.
Ghana has recorded 24 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with one death as of March 22, 2020.The first case was recorded on March 13, 2020.
Ghana’s President having suspended all social gatherings including Church activities and closed down schools since March 16, 2020, on Saturday announced the closure of all borders -Land, Sea and Air space as an enhanced measure to control the spread of the disease.
