assan Sulemana Tampuli, a Deputy Minister for Transport has reiterated the NPP Government is commitment to introduce a nationwide Electric Vehicle Policy in order to reduce Carbon emissions and curb the emerging Climate Emergency.
The Member of Parliament for Gushegu Constituency in the Northern Region opines that, Ghana as part of the 196 countries that signed the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015, is taking urgent steps to move away from Fusil based Vehicles thus Cars that use Petrol and Diesel to Electric Vehicles and Our Country is fortunate to currently have excess production capacity of electricity therefore should take advantage to fit into this new System in order to save our Nation from destruction of Climate change mitigation.
He spoke in an interview with Asta Fm’s Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman when the Ministry of Transport and their Partners working to roll out the “E-Mobility Transportation Policy” held a Consultation Meeting with all Stakeholders in the Bono East Region.

Earlier in his welcome address, Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan the Bono East Regional Minister commended His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia for their vision and commitment to providing a healthy environment for the People of Ghana with the introduction of this Electric Vehicle Policy.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Doris Duodu a Deputy Director of Renewable Energy who represented the Ministry of Energy revealed that some of these Electric Vehicles are already in use in the capital Accra and Government is taking steps to make Vehicle Charging points available across the length and breadth of the Country in order for other Regions to access or be able to use these Cars.

Finally, some of the Stakeholders who attended the Consultative Meeting welcomed this new E-Vehicle Policy but called for more education in order not to bring about any confusions as we transition from Fusil to Electric Transportation.
