Afriyie Akoto, the prospective flag bearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his grief at the resignation of former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen from the NPP.
The former trades minister left the NPP in order to run as an independent for president in the 2024 elections.
The flag-bearer candidate commented on the situation on Starr Chat, saying that politics is about numbers and that each party member matters.
“We are in politics and politics is about numbers. It doesn’t matter the stature of the person. It could be the youth organizer of MA Primary School Polling Station. If he turns his back on us I am equally hurt as any member, so for me, it’s just unfortunate.
He claims that when he learns that NPP supporters are defecting, he is not pleased.
The former Agric Member is however optimistic that the NPP will win the 2024 general elections. “We need every soul to bring the 8 next year. I am confident that we will break the 8.”
