Ghana Premier League side King Faisal owner Alhaji Karim Grusah has rubbished claims of him describing Sulley Muntari, Sammy Kuffuor and Shilla Illiasu as ungrateful players and has stated that what he said was taken out of context.
An earlier report in the local media suggested that the outspoken football administrator launched a scathing attack on the three players while he was paying tribute to the late for international striker Opoku Afriyie.
But Grusah in an interview said he never tagged those players as ungrateful and has; therefore, call on Ghanaians to disregard such fake news.
“During the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Opoku Afriyie gave me money after the tournament as a former player of King Faisal, but my comment about Muntari, Kufuor and Shilla Illiasu was that they never show me some love despite passing through the club”
“I never said they are greedy. I said Opoku Afriyie was not greedy like his colleagues because of players in this country do not think about anyone except their parochial interest”
“Kufuor has not wronged me so why should I describe him as greedy. You can’t tag people as greedy if they don’t give you something” he said.
Opoku Afriyie, the 1978 AFCON winner with Ghana, died in Kumasi last Sunday.
