The current backwardness and suffering in the country are attributed to the Akufo-Addo administration, according to former president John Dramani Mahama.
Even though the rate of inflation has gradually decreased, the government appears to be having difficulty reviving the economy in the face of several challenges, including a bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the cedi’s wild slide against major trading currencies, and an increasing unemployment rate.
Speaking at a meeting in Wenchi as part of his Building Ghana Tour, John Dramani Mahama blamed the NPP administration’s weak leadership for Ghana’s current state of poverty.
He stated that he believed the current government was impeding the progress of the country, especially by stopping the ongoing development initiatives that the previous Mahama administration had started.
“People thought there was development and prosperity here, and now we have lost everything. The nation is pitiful, the country is facing hardships, and the economy is bad.”
“I thought they would continue the good work I left behind, but the nation seems to be retrogressing in development,” Mahama complained.
Mr. Mahama reminded the youth to hold onto their hope for a better Ghana, emphasizing that the NDC is their best chance for improved development and prosperity. He reflected on the days when Ghana was known as the black star of Africa, having been the first African nation to achieve independence.
On November 17, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate began the Building Ghana Tour in the Bono Region.
