The Black Stars of Ghana kick started the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a defeat after falling short to Cape Verde on Monday night.
Ghana went into the game as favourites but ended up losing 2-1 to Cape Verde in the much-anticipated encounter.
Cape Verde opened the scoring after 17 minutes through Jamiro Monteiro before Alexander Djiku pulled parity for the Black Stars in the second half.
The Blue Sharks snatched a late winner through Garry Rodrigues following a comical defending on the part of the Black Stars.
Ghana are in search of their fifth AFCON title having last won it in Libya 1982.
The Black Stars now find themselves in a challenging position in Group following the defeat. They are currently bottom on the table without a point.
The West Africa powerhouse will face Egypt on Thursday in their second group B clash.
