Minister for the Central Region, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan has urged various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to accord their Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) the maximum respect due them to facilitate effective coexistence at the region’s Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Welcoming all twenty-two MMDCEs and their MMDCDs in the region to the signing of the 2024 Performance Contract, the Minister encouraged all MMDCEs and MMDCDs of the need to work, stay and gel together and the need to respect each other.
She told MMDCEs in the region that it shouldn’t always be on the path of their Coordinating Directors to be bending and bowing to pay them obeisance, but impelled them to equally respect and listen to their MMDCDs as the chief advisors they are to them in other to deliver on their required tenets inscribed in their 2024 Performance Contract.
The Honourable Regional Minister equally required of the MMDCDs to also give the MMDCEs the maximum support and cooperation they need. She stressed that should MMDCEs and MMDCDs cohesively discharge their duties effectively, will have fractions often witnessed at the region’s MMDAs be a thing of the past.
The Performance Contract, is a yearly activity that mandates all 22 MMDCEs and their MMDCDs to discharge their duties honorably as enshrined in the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936).
Hon. Justina Marigold Assan further encouraged the region’s MMDCEs and MMDCDs to institutionalize system of rewards to their staffs, particularly to those they rarely draw to the discussion table (i.e. the cooks, gardeners and cleaners) to create a robust performance culture for the effectiveness of the MMDAs Performance Contract and should also sanction staffs when the need arises.
