The Human Resource Management Directorate of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation(MoCD) has organised a two-day training seminar to equip staff on the background and challenges in the Management & Administration of Leave in the public sector
The 2-day workshop organised at the Ministry’s conference room today, from 12th -13th February, 2024, will also focus on the guidelines, bonding compliance, penalties for non-compliance and among others key processes in the management and administration of leave in the service.
The Director of Human Resource Management, (HRMD), Mr. Austin Hesse in his presentation expressed concerns that, the HRMD has noted the high leave accruals by staff, which has resulted an average of 100 days contrary to the leave Policy framework. This , he said was therefore necessary for staff to enhance their knowledge on the rules and regulations of leave procedures.
Mr Hesse also educated staff on the leave implementation in the ministry, as well as the various leave entitlement, legal justification for leave and primary objective of leave in the public sector.
He further discussed the types of leaves and duration as follows;
- Compassionate leave (10 days )
- Examination leave ( 10 days)
- Sports (5 days)
- leave of Absence (1yr)
- Annual leave
- Study leave (with pay /without pay );
The Director of Finance and Administration(F&A), Mr. Alfred Nortey also shared some insights during the seminar
Mr. Nortey encouraged all staff to adhere to all that was taught during the seminar and always strive to do the right thing at all times.
The first batch of Directorates that were trained were Human Resource (HR), Research Statistics Information and Management (RSIM), IT and Policy Planning Budget Monitoring and Evaluation (PPBME).
