Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong,has expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in ensuring a memorable 67th Independence Day anniversary celebration in Koforidua
The Minister extended his gratitude to President Akufo Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the planning committees, religious organizations, the 11 paramountcies in the region, and the media for their invaluable contributions to the success of the Independence Day parade held on 6th March.
Highlighting the significance of the parade, the Regional Minister emphasized its role in showcasing the cultural richness, diversity, and the economic and tourism potentials of the Eastern Region to the global audience.
He underscored the importance of leveraging this exposure to attract investors and tourists to the region, thus facilitating further development beyond the anniversary celebrations.
The celebration of the 67th Independence Anniversary in Koforidua served as a platform for the region to exhibit its cultural vibrancy and economic potential.
The rich cultures and traditions of Ghana were on display adding glamour to the event.
Notably, Mampong Akuapem took center stage, highlighting its historical significance of Tetteh Quashie, the pioneer agriculturalist who introduced cocoa to Ghana in 1875.
In addition, various economic ventures, including those supported by the One District One Factory initiative, showcased their contributions to the local economy.
The event also provided a boost to entrepreneurs and business owners, as thousands of spectators thronged the Koforidua Youth Resource Center venue.
Many vendors some from Accra seized the opportunity to set up shop, offering a range of goods and services to cater to the influx of visitors.
In interviews with the media , some traders expressed satisfaction with the surge in foot traffic and sales during the event, underscoring the positive impact of such celebrations on local businesses.
