Nana Kwaku Osabu, on behalf of Nana Kwabena Ansah I, the Chief of Nsawam, made an appeal to Mr. Alan Kyerematen, the Movement for Change’s founder and leader and an independent candidate for president in the general elections of 2024, during a visit to the Nsawam Traditional Council in the Akwapim South Municipality of the Eastern Region, asking him to refrain from using insulting politics both during and after the election.
According to Nana Kwaku Osabu, Kyerematen, a former minister of trade and industry for the ruling New Patriotic Party, is not renowned for using derogatory language in his political speeches.
He asked Kyerematen to forbid his supporters from acting in this way, particularly on social media, as it would damage his campaign.
In the company of Queen Mother Awoyaa Amankwa I and other Traditional Council dignitaries, Nana Kwaku Osabu cordially received Mr. Kyerematen and his entourage at the palace. She emphasized that, despite being prohibited from engaging in political activity, they had noticed Kyerematen’s optimistic disposition during the campaign trail.
In order to guarantee a peaceful election process, he advised Mr. Kyerematen to keep advocating for peace and urged his supporters to follow in his footsteps.
Mr. Kyerematen responded by thanking the municipality’s market women, citizens, and chiefs for their cordial greeting.
He reaffirmed that the main reason he is visiting markets around the nation is to present his plan for changing markets in the event that he is elected president on December 7.
Mr. Kyerematen urged Ghanaians to reevaluate their voting habits, pointing out that the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party had failed to keep their pledges to voters.
He emphasized the need for Ghana’s political environment to change and condemned the country’s eight-year cycle of going to the IMF.
