Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi has urged Muslims to support the New Patriotic Party make history by electing first Muslim President for Ghana on December 7 Presidential election.
According to him, since independence Christians have been elected Presidents therefore this year presents opportunity for the country to elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the NPP as first Muslim President.
Okyere Baafi who is Deputy Minister of Trade and Industries said Christians in the country are ready to support muslims on this journey to make one of their own President ,therefore, should disregard their political affiliation and vote massively for Vice President Dr. Bawumia .
Michael Okyere Baafi said this when addressing Muslim at Eid-ul-fitr celebration in Koforidua.
Michael Okyere Baafi called for peace in this the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary election.
Eastern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Yusif Amudani also echoed the need for peaceful elections.
He advised the Muslim youth not to allow themselves to be exploited by politcians for violence in this year’s election.
