Salam Mustapha, the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Youth Organiser, has asserted that former President John Mahama has been tarnished with corruption, making his opponent, NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, stand out because he is not associated with corruption.
Mustapha asserts that he has worked with Dr. Bawumia and is sure in saying that the man has never engaged in any corrupt practices.
He therefore issued a challenge, asking anyone who had proof of corruption against Dr. Bawumia to come out and provide it.
Mustapha stated that the NDC is unable to mount a comparable challenge on President Mahama’s behalf due to his past involvement in corruption. He made these remarks during the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamud Bawumia’s campaign visit in Wa.
“I am against corruption, and I am a firm advocate for the fight against corruption. I have worked with a man who is not corrupt, and that is why we have thrown the challenge that if anyone has any iota of truth that Dr Bawumia is involved in any corrupt activity, let them bring it. To date, of all the things they can say about Dr Bawumia, they can’t say he is corrupt. That is his nature.”
Mustapha stated that there is documentation and that President John Mahama is not a scapegoat for corruption.
“He is the first president with proof of corruption against him. The crown courts in London have implicated him in the Airbus scandal. He is super corrupt, fantastically corrupt, chronically corrupt, and overly corrupt. There is evidence of it against him.”
Mustapha contended that Ghana is doomed if President Mahama is the successor to Dr. Bawumia. Additionally, he disregarded recent Fitch Solutions polls, which gave President Mahama a 54% lead.
Mustapha added that since Fitch gets its information from the unreliable Global Info Analytics, their report cannot be accurate.
“It’s a lie. We have checked with Fitch; they have not done anything. They picked data from Musa Dankwah, who has never done accurate research. As a researcher, I understand the tenets of research. To say the NDC will win with 99% in Oforikrom is out of place. I don’t know which kind of research would bring this outcome” he stated.
