Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, has inaugurated a new ultra-modern health center in New Powmu (Tusker) community.
The $400,000 facility, which includes ten bedrooms and several departments such as maternity wards, a labor ward, and a pharmacy, aims to improve healthcare in the district.
The center, equipped for a range of services including emergency care and preventive health, neonatal service, maternity, is set to become a model Health Center HUB.
Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko praised the community’s support and noted that the health center would alleviate pressure on the VRA Hospital and serve surrounding areas.
The MP thanked his former University mate at KNUST whose company funded the project as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Asuogyaman District Health Director Mrs. Rebecca Bantey highlighted its role in enhancing healthcare quality and saving lives.
“This facility will not only save lives but also improve the quality of life for countless individuals.
Lastly, to Commit ourselves to the ongoing mission of Network of Practice (NOP), a strategy being adopted by the Ghana Health Service to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) at the primary level with a focus on improving quality health services, partnership and innovation, which involves creating networks of health facilities within a defined geographical area to provide comprehensive health “
The District Health Director noted further that,”One health centre within a network will be well equipped to become the MODEL HEALTH CENTRE (HUB). All other healthcare delivery entities then become the spokes (the model of the bicycle tyre). Currently the Asuogyaman district submitted Boso and Senchi Ferry Health centres to be upgraded to serve as the HUBS in those networks
Paramount chief of Akwamuman, Odeneneho Kwafo Akoto III commended the MP’s commitment and urged health workers to maintain high professionalism.
The facility was handed over to the Ghana Health Services and immediately opened to the public after transfering Clinicians work there.
Present at the ceremony include were Kofi Adams, MP for Buem constituency, Samuel Bortei Borlabi, from the Eastern Regional Health Directorate and some regional executives of NDC.
