The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to choose peace over violence before, during, and after the country’s next general elections on December 7.
Speaking to worshippers on Sunday, September 1, at a number of churches in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the value of preserving peace, saying that although elections are important in determining the future of the country, they should be centered on the exchange of ideas rather than violence.
Dr. Bawumia urged the clergy to pray for the nation, for him, and for the NPP’s parliamentary candidates while on his visits, citing Matthew 19:26 as reference.
At the Ablekuma-Pokuase intersection in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Dr. Bawumia was greeted with warmth by vendors and passersby as he delivered his message of “Bold Solutions.” He promised supporters that if he were elected president, he would train a million young people in digital skills and open up jobs.
At Pentecost University, Dr. Bawumia also spoke with local chiefs, pastors, imams, and opinion leaders about government policies, including as the Free SHS and free technical and vocational education training programs.
