Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, has urged the National House of Chiefs to discuss recent changes in Ghana’s voting system.
To ensure peace before, during, and after the elections on December 7, Asiedu Nketiah asked traditional rulers to engage all pertinent stakeholders.
During his speech at the Yam Festival in Dagbon, he emphasized the importance of traditional authority in preserving stability and called on them to get involved in the nation’s democratic processes.
“But I would like to add that if all the House of Chiefs members are following developments in the country in this period leading to the elections, then we are worried about the loud silence of them. Because peace does not happen in a vacuum. There are elements that disturb the peace of a country.
“And whilst the elements that form the building blocks of violence are being laid, all peace-loving citizens and elders are expected to talk and advise and urge all the actors whose conduct is likely to threaten the peace to sit up and do their work very well.”
