A reliable information reaching Mybrytfmonline.com is that a commercial Vehicle driver has violently stabbed a passenger for protesting against overloading amid fear of coronavirus infection.
The incident according to an eyewitness occurred this evening at Akwadum-roundabout in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The injured passenger who was bleeding profusely in the motionless state has been rushed to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.
He is reported dead but mybrytfmonline.com is yet to confirm it from Doctors at the Hospital.
The driver is in the Police Custody at Akwadum having reported himself to the Police.
Eastern region has recorded 51 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of April 18, 2020.
The region is just 8 cases low behind Ashanti Region which has recorded 59 cases with Greater Accra Region unenviably dominating with 685 confirmed cases.
The current national tally is now 834.
There is a directive from the President of Ghana Akufo-Addo, and various District and Municipal Assemblies to drivers to reduce the number of passengers they transport at a time to help observe social distancing protocols to minimize the risk of infection in public transport.
