The Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor has urged women in Ghana to support the party to make history on December 7 by voting to get the first female Vice President in the person of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang running mate to the John Dramani Mahama.
He said Prof. Jane Naana Opoku- Agyemang as Vice President will break the glass ceiling for all women to reach the higher height in governance.
Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor explained that Prof. Jane Naana Opoku -Agyemang demonstration of competent leadership when she became the first Female Vice Chancellor in a public University in Ghana paved way subsequently for women to be appointed Vice Chancellors in a University .
The Regional Chairman stated that,empowering women means a lot to the development of a country since women constitute majority of the population but confronted with myraid of challenges.
Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor said this during two -day campaign tour of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku -Agyemang in Eastern Region.
On her part, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang assured that problems faced by women in the country will be prioritized and addressed when John Mahama becomes President and she becomes his Vice .
She said John Mahama has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of women hence her appointment as running mate to partner him at seat of government to champion the course of women and children.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang mentioned proposed policy of establishing National women’s Development Bank,providing Free sanitary pads, constructing modern market centers with Daycare , free apprentiship training all gears towards helping women in the country.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku -Agyemang who rounded her tour in Asuogyaman urged voters to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and NDC Parliamentary candidates to enable the next NDC government have majority in Parliament to approve all these policy interventions for implementation.
MP for Asuogyaman Thomas Ampem Nyarko accounted to the people various developmental projects executed with his 5℅ share of MPs common fund.
He challenged the NPP’s candidate Pius Enam Hadzide and the District Assembly to account for the 95% of the fund in their custody.
He assured the people of doing more to improve their welfare when retained with NDC in government and John Mahama as President.
