Fuseini Nawaru, the CEO of Hausa Tours, has been recognized as Ghana’s Tour Guide of the Year by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
He was first adjudged Eastern Regional Tour Guide of the year before winning the coveted national title at the 2024 National Tourism Awards, held at Christianborg Castle in Osu.
Expressing his gratitude, Nawaru remarked, “I am so grateful to represent the best of our beautiful country! Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible. Here’s to more unforgettable adventures.”
Based in Koforidua, Hausa Tours provides comprehensive travel services across West Africa, including guided tours, hotel bookings, car rentals, and corporate travel arrangements. A prominent member of the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), Hausa Tours is acclaimed for delivering exceptional travel experiences.
The National Tourism Awards, hosted by the GTA, honored 36 individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to Ghana’s tourism sector over the past year.
Under the theme “Celebrating Innovation and Recognising Excellence in Ghana’s Tourism Sector,” the event highlighted the efforts of industry players who have driven the sector’s growth.
The awards ceremony featured 26 competitive awards, eight honorary awards, and two special awards.
Notable attendees included former Minister of Tourism Florence Oboshie Sai Cofie, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and GTA CEO Akwasi Agyeman.
Guests were entertained by performances from the National Dance Ensemble, the Immigration Band, and renowned highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena.
Minister Andrew Agyapa Mercer praised the sector’s progress, stating a significant rise in tourism numbers, with international arrivals reaching 1,148,002 in 2023—a 25% increase over the previous year.
He urged the industry to continue fostering tourism for economic growth and job creation.
Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the GTA, stressed on the importance of innovation in the sector’s development, highlighting advancements such as digital platforms that enhance the visitor experience.
He encouraged stakeholders to collaborate and innovate to solidify Ghana’s position as a premier global destination.
