Lawyer Edudzi Tamekloe, the head of the NDC’s legal team, has urged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to stop calling John Mahama for a debate and instead concentrate on fixing the country’s crippled economy.
This comes in response to Dr Bawumia’s recent decision to respond to Mr Mahama’s five economic questions with his own set of 50 questions. And also Dr. Bawumia’s quest for a presidential debate between him and the John Mahama.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia was tagged as an economic wizard who is good at managing the economy and will solve Ghana’s economical challenges.
Speaking in an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Fm’s Adekye Mu Nsem, Lawyer Edudzi Tameklo made these assertions.
” How can a master of economics be fleeing the economy at this time? President Akufo-Addo said he chose Dr. Bawumia due of his economic prowess, now notice awful our economy has become. John Mahama’s debate with someone who deceived Ghanaians will be a farce. Since Mahama is a nobleman, he will not argue with a liar. It is currently GHS 17 to the dollar.”
“By claiming that he came as a mate and now wants to be the bus’s principal driver, Dr. Bawumia is attempting to distance himself from the mess he made while serving as vice president and head of the Economic Management Team. Isn’t he the same individual who gave talks at Central University about how effectively he would run the economy once NPP took office in 2016? Given that the economy is being questioned, why is he running now? Ghanaians should not listen to Bawumia because he is a poor economist..”
Mr. Tamekloe believes that Dr. Bawumia doesn’t want to take the blame for his mess and for that reason hiding behind President Akufo-Addo for protection.
” If Ghanaians give Bawumia to nod to lead the country, it will be a disaster. How can someone who couldn’t manage the economy lead a country like Ghana. He couldn’t even answer questions which journalists posed at him. He isn’t the ideal man for this country. We need to give the country to an experienced leader who knows how to manage the economy better”. He stated.
