A driver tragically lost his life after his vehicle crashed into the Kadepong River at Akyem Kade in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when the driver, operating a Toyota Passo with registration number AW-389-21, veered off the road and plunged into the river.
Efforts by a team from the police and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to rescue him proved unsuccessful, and he was retrieved deceased from the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations have identified the driver as Jeremiah Frimpong, who was alone in the car at the time of the accident.
The Family members have been informed, and his body has been transported to the morgue.
This accident comes shortly after a similar incident in the Ashanti Region, where five individuals drowned when their vehicle veered off the Dabaa-Akropong road and fell into the Owabi River.
The victims included the driver of the private Opel saloon car, her two daughters, and two other passengers—a plumber and a teacher from Akropong Roman Catholic Basic School.
Both incidents have raised concerns about road safety in the regions, especially near river crossings. Further investigations are underway to determine the causes of these accidents.
