The Director of GIS Media College in Nsawam of the Eastern Region, Dr. Peace Obeng (PhD) has said frequent Ghana currency depreciation is affecting students in the country to pursue international courses.
According to him, most students in the media schools who are supposed to do courses with the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM)-UK, the leading professional body for commercial and business development staff could not because of exchange Rate.
Dr. Peace Obeng (PhD) said this at Asamankese during second graduation ceremony by the GIS Media College students for Nsawam and Asamankese.
He called on Personnels in the media to take advantage of local courses and upgrade themselves and appealed to parents to support their kids who have the aspiration to further their education to get more professional journalists for the country.
He said GIS Media College which has been approved by the National Schools Inspectorate Authority currently have branches in Nsawam and Asamankese and they will soon establish campuses in other parts of the Country to train more people to become Journalists.
He called on Political Leaders to protect the peace of the country before, during and after the parliamentary and presidential elections in Ghana.
The National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Lower West Akim Constituency, Mr. Owen Kwame Frimpong who paid surprised visit to the ceremony lauded the media in Ghana and said most are professional, compared to neighbouring Countries.
He called on all Ghanaians who are eligible to vote to exercise their franchise and consider the NDC in the 7th December Polls.
