For Immediate Release.
DISREGARD THE FALSE CLAIMS THAT THE NPP WON THE DAMONGO SEAT.
The attention of the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in the Damongo Constituency has been drawn to some false claims making rounds to the effect that the NPP has won the Damongo seat. This has been escalated to the NPP headquarters and found expression in this evening’s press engagement by the NPP General Secretary.
By this release, the NDC PC for the Damongo Constituency and the party wish to request the general public to disregard any such claims, for they are false and deliberately concocted to play mind games with the general public.
As it stands, there was no collation of results, and some polling stations stand uncounted. The constituency recorded several electoral malpractices, including over voting and ballot stuffing, among others. Based on this, the EC was unable to collate the results, and therefore, no official declaration has been made on the winner of the Parliamentary.
We, therefore, urge the general public to treat any such claim with the contempt it deserves and to assure the rank and file of the NDC in the Damongo Constituency to remain calm as leadership of the party are doing everything possible to secure the seat and to avoid any cheating of any kind.
The disturbances that greeted the elections in the constituency, which led to the death of one person, is regrettable and condemnable. The MP, Hon Abu Jinapor, after setting the Constituency ablaze, has since flee Damongo and seeking refuge in Buipe.
Thank you
Signed
