The NPP Chairman for Akwatia Constituency has declared that the NPP won the parliamentary seat in Akwatia.
On Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Mr. Baah, declared that with results from all 121 polling stations collated, Mr. Christian Kumi of the NPP won the constituency seat with a significant margin of 2,063 votes over the incumbent NDC MP.
Mr. Baah alleged the Electoral Commission was poised to declare the results but was interrupted by NDC members who claimed victory despite losing.
“The NDC reportedly mobilized their supporters to gather at the polling station, causing unrest. However, the NPP exercised restraint, choosing not to escalate the situation” he revealed.
Mr. Baah attributed this decision to divine intervention, stating that God prevented the NPP from calling their supporters to the polling station, thereby avoiding a potential clash.
He stated, ” It is God that spoke to we the NPP to not call our people to the Polling station, there would’ve been a clash. “
The NPP chairman emphasized that they sought to avoid the violent clashes that have marred previous elections in the area.
The Electoral Commission’s inability to declare the results due to threats on their lives led to the regional office taking over the process, with results pending declaration.
