H.E. John Dramani Mahama outfit during his inauguration on Tuesday has sparked discussions on social media.
His outfit displayed four carefully chosen Adinkra symbols which comes with interesting meanings.
Below are the meanings:
Gye Nyame…(Except God) He sees God as his only Strength
Sankɔfa…(Return and take it) Telling Ghanaians going back for the former is never a taboo
Nyame Dua…(Tree of God). A Tree that is believed to drive away evil spirit. So, a Tree of Protection. Evil spirit shall not prevail in this government
Dwannimme…(Horn of a Sheep): Sheep signifies humility but its horns are always there to fight any adversary. JDM is saying, though he has come like a sheep, you should not take him for granted
Anecdote: The Adinkra symbols, designed by the Gyamanhene (also referred as Bonohene) Nana Kwadwo Agyemang Adinkra. His legacy stays forever in Africa and the world.
The symbol from Bono, the symbol that the world embraces it more and more. Adinkra means farewell.
