Tension is rising high in the NDC party in New Juaben South as some Executive’s and supporters of the party are agitating over shortlisting of Ransford Owusu Boakye as the only candidate presented to the office of the President Mahama to be nominated as Mayor of New Juaben South metropolitan assembly.
Nine individuals were competing for the Mayor position. Notable candidates include: Martin Otu Offei – 2020 and 2024 parliamentary candidate, Ransford Owusu Boakye – Former parliamentary aspirant and NADMO Director, Emmanuel Frempong Bedjaben – Former parliamentary aspirant, now a headmaster, and Selassie Amuzu – Constituency chairman.
The selection of Ransford Owusu Boakye has sparked controversy.
Angry NDC supporters are planning to storm the constituency and Regional Offices of the party this morning.
Meanwhile, a Major Financier of the NDC in the Region is also upset about decision of the vetting committee.
Emmanuel Frempong Bedjabeng, one of the aspirants supported by Omanhene of New Juaben and some financiers of the NDC is still hopeful he will be mominated despite the vetting committee shortlisting Ransford Owusu Boakye.
He outlined his vision, which includes reconstructing Koforidua markets, improving sanitation, roll out innovative means to improve revenue and addressing perennial flooding issues in the Metropolis. He also promised to ensure colts football is improved.
