Koforidua, Ghana – A section of grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in New Juaben South are calling for a re-evaluation of the mayoral selection process, citing concerns over fairness and transparency.
According to the aggrieved party members, there are several competent individuals within the constituency who are qualified to be considered for the position. However, they allege that the recent vetting process was flawed, leading to the disqualification of about seven aspirants.
The group claims that the regional vetting committee displayed bias in the selection process, leading to the exclusion of strong candidates. As a result, they are demanding a complete overhaul of the vetting process, including a change in the members of the vetting committee. They argue that fresh, impartial individuals should be appointed to conduct a fair and transparent evaluation.
Speaking to the media, some party supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with the regional leadership’s handling of the selection process. They insist that fairness must prevail to ensure that the best candidate is chosen to serve as Mayor of New Juaben South.
“The supporters in the region are not happy with how things were done. We need transparency so that our party can remain strong and united,” a concerned member stated.
The grassroots members are urging the party’s national leadership to intervene and address their grievances to maintain unity and trust within the party in the region.
