Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama, in his maiden State of the Nation Address, outlined his administration’s commitment to critical infrastructure development, pledging to prioritize water projects, revive the national airline, and complete stalled housing initiatives, including the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.
The President assured Ghanaians that his government would focus on the completion of water projects to improve access to clean and reliable water supply nationwide.
This initiative aims to address persistent water shortages, particularly in underserved communities, and enhance overall public health and sanitation.
In a bid to strengthen Ghana’s aviation industry, President Mahama announced that the government is taking steps to revive the national airline. The country has been without a national carrier since the collapse of Ghana Airways and its successor, Ghana International Airlines. The revival of a national airline is expected to boost tourism, facilitate business travel, and create employment opportunities.
On housing, the President reiterated his government’s commitment to completing all ongoing housing projects, including the long-delayed Saglemi Affordable Housing Project. The project, which was originally designed to provide thousands of affordable homes, has faced financial and legal hurdles. Its completion is expected to ease Ghana’s housing deficit and provide affordable accommodation for many citizens.
With these commitments, President Mahama signals a renewed focus on infrastructure development to improve the quality of life for Ghanaians. Citizens now await concrete steps to ensure the timely execution of these projects.
